The boys are out of school on Friday to celebrate Veteran's Day. The forecast says rain, but we are going to hike anyways. My choices are either Beckler Peak or Boulder River. We have done Boulder River, but turned around at the twin falls. I would like to hike the entire 8 1/2 miles.
Have you hiked Beckler Peak? It just opened in September 2011 so it is fairly new.
I just got a rain sweatsuit at Costco so I am excited to try it out. Maybe I can even open up my gators!
Happy Hiking!
Hello Hiker mom - You asked for recommendations on hikes close to Portland. The best place to hike is in the Columbia River Gorge. It's about a half hour to 45 minute drive from Portland. There are lots of great hikes - Angel's Rest, Wahkeena Falls, Eagle Creek, to name a few. I've profiled all of these places on my blog. Get the book "100 Hikes in Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington" by William L. Sullivan. This book has an entire section on Gorge hikes. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy yourself. Rain doesn't stop me from hiking, I got myself a special raincoat.
